Groups
Label the people in a register, and filter on the labels in communities and the membership definition.
Studio roles: "Owner", "Administrator" and "Community manager".
A group is a label a person carries in a register. Pannoniqa AG uses its sites as groups: "Linz", "Graz" and "Wels". Groups are plain text: type a new one wherever you set groups.
Groups in an internal register
Each entry has its own groups.
- By hand: in "Add entry" or "Edit entry", type a group under "Groups" and press Enter. Remove one with its ×.
- By upload: map a column to "Groups". Several groups share one cell, separated by commas, for example
Linz, Works council.
An entry can have at most 100 groups, each at most 100 characters long.
Groups of an external register
An external register cannot give groups per person. You set them once for the whole register instead:
- Open the external register, for example "SAP HR".
- Under "Register settings", add the groups under "Groups".
- Choose "Save changes".
"Everyone found in this register carries these groups, which communities can filter on. Members pick up a change at their next check."
Where groups are used
- Communities filter on groups: a member passes when they are in any of the chosen groups. See Filter by register, status, groups and claims.
- The membership definition can filter an internal register's assignment on groups, for example to let only the retirees of one site qualify. An external register's groups cannot narrow its assignment, since everyone found in it carries them. See Filters and outcomes.
- The members directory filters on them under "Group". See Find a member.
A member's groups are stored with their organisation membership at each valid membership check. A changed group therefore reaches a member's communities at their next check, which runs at every sign-in.
